Mermaid Tears Scarf

Hello Lovelies!
I'm back and ready to give y'all a free pattern today!
This pattern can be easily adapted to create an elegant shawl! For the moment I'm calling my result a "Stole" but technically it's just a wide scarf. Either way, I'm totally loving how it turned out! It features an open lattice pattern, which works up very quickly and requires minimal crochet know how... So it's a perfect project for beginners!
Le Finished Scarf! I love the Fishnet feel!

Let's get started shall we?

Things you'll need:
H Crochet hook
1 skein of your choice of worsted or aran weight yarn, (I used red heart super-saver in the shade of JADE)
Tapestry needle
A close up of the lattice work

R1: Chain 40, Single crochet into the 8th chain from the hook, chain 5 and skip 3 stitches, Single crochet into the 4th stitch... repeat this pattern until you reach the end of your row. Chain 5 and turn your work!

R2: Single crochet into the big loop that you just made (the chain 5 loop). Chain 5 and single crochet into the next loop! Repeat until the end of the row. Chain 5 and turn!

That's it! You'll keep repeating row 2 until you reach the desired length, then weave in all the loose ends.

Suppose you wanted to make a shawl or a stole with this same pattern? You absolutely could! Just switch the size of your crochet hook! I tested this pattern out with varying hook sizes, K works best for shawls.

Psst! My scarf was 40" long, if you're making a shawl you'll want to be sure to allow some extra room for the drape!

Happy Crafting!!!!
