Green (S)Leaves Mug Cozy Pattern
Hello Loverlies!
I've been teaching myself to knit for a little bit over a year now. I've been using the "I Taught Myself Knitting" book from Boye, less than creative title I know but they're pretty great at explaining the concepts. Well I've finally worked up the nerve to try cables... to my surprise it's SUPER EASY! I wanted to test out the cable lesson, but wanted to actually be able to make something out of it (the lesson called for test swatches, ain't nobody got time fo dat!)... so I slightly modified it and made a mug cozy out of it! And because the detail looks like leaves... and it's green... well I couldn't resist calling it Green (S)Leaves. Haha! Get it? Green Leaves, Green Sleeves... coffee sleeve.. badada! Bad pun, I know! anywhoo! let's get busy!
Here's what you'll need:
Directions:
Cast on 24 stitches
Row 1(right side): P3, K6, P6 ,K6, P3
Row 2: K3, P6, K6, P6, K3
Rows 3 and 4: Repeat rows 1 &2
Row 5: *P3, Slip next 3 St onto a cable stitch needle, one at a time as if to purl. Hold cable needle in front of work. Knit next 3 stitches. Knit 3 stitches from the cable needle. Purl 3 st.* Repeat once!
Row 6: Repeat row 2
Row 7 & 8: Repeat row 1 and 2
Repeat rows 1-8 until you reach the desired length. Mine is about 9 inches, but you can make it however big you want to fit your favorite mug!
Cast off, leaving a long tail for weaving in later.
Taking the end with the long tail, weave in the yarn until you hit the middle section, make a loop that you'll use for fastening later... continue weaving it in.
Take your button and sew it onto the middle section of the other end.
And there you have it! A super cute, cabled cozy!!!
Happy Crafting,
Miss Blue Bird
